Software company Synthetik have indicated on their website that the artwork program Studio Artist 5.5 is no longer available for sale. No explanation or reason is given for this decision. A number of years have passed since version 5.5 became available for purchase and no upgrades have been released since then, so the future of the program is unclear, especially given the lack of communication by Synthetik with its customer base.
Although the program has apparently been around for about 20+ years or so, I first became aware of it approximately two years ago, and purchased a copy after trying the free 14 day test version. While it has a somewhat steep learning curve to get the maximum potential out of it, it has subsequently become my favourite artwork software, and while perhaps behind the times in terms of its capabilities compared to other artwork programs, eg, selection and masking tools, it is still an amazing product in terms of what it can actually do. For me, Studio Artist is perfect for adding my own creative touches to AI images produced with text to image generators such as Stable Diffusion.
A pdf file is already available for version 5 (with 576 pages!), but more information is also available on the Studio Artist blog page. I will be saving some details from these for future reference in case the Studio Artist website should disappear altogether. In the meantime, its just a case of of waiting to hear if Synthetik make any additional announcements about this product.
